In our group we have two nurses, an EMT and a International Lifeguard. Therefore, we should have no problem when it comes to injuries or sickness. Right...
Well, our EMT and Lifeguard are very eager to try out their medical skill. So whenever anyone gets "injured" they insist on caring for you.
Shaina pricked her finger on a safety pin while fixing her punjabi, so immediately they jumped into action. Shankar, our "doctor", washed the tiny bead of blood off with Germx on some TP. Noah ran and grabbed the three medical bags, then Josh, our EMT/"nurse", got a butterfly bandage ready.
No, we're not bored.
(We actually aren't, Shankar and Josh are being, well, Shankar and Josh.)
In other news, our meetings are going great!! Tomorrow, Sunday, we're going visiting in the village where the meeting is being held.

India | Day 7
I'm so tired, but I can't fall asleep. So yesterday we got to chill for most of the time. After lunch we went into town (Ibrahimpatnam). While it was definitely smaller, it was still a little unnerving. There really weren't that many crowds around us, but this time the beggar children latched onto us. They loved to have us take pictures of us, but when PHarry bought us boiled peanuts we had to ignore their tapping on our arms. It was so heartbreaking!! I wanted more then anything to give them some, but I knew that I just couldn't. We'd instantly be surrounded by beggars. It was the hardest thing I've experienced here, yet. But when we got back, we got to hand out the toothbrushes to the students!! :) They were so excited! Then we watched while they were served supper. Shankar, Josh and Sam got to help serve!
Today we hiked up in the ruins behind the school. The view from the hills was amazing!! There were monkeys, too! When we got back, Shankar, Shaina, Josh and I had a quick water fight before lunch. Then after lunch, we had an even bigger one!! It was so nice to be able to cool off, as its consistently in the high 80s.
After drying off, we all sat down and prepared for tonight's meeting and tomorrow's church service. Some of us are preaching, others doing the children's story and health talks. Of course, I'm helping out in song service.
We drove 45 minutes to the village were our meeting was held. All and all, it went quite well!! Praise God!
Happy Sabbath!!

PS: Once again, I apologize for the lack if pictures. I didn't bring a laptop over, but then again, the wifi is so slow that I doubt I could upload them very well, anyway. But here's some from my iPod.

Happy Birthday, Shaina! | Day 5
Today we went shopping in a nearby small city. Wow. There were so many people, everywhere. (Today is the last day of a 4 day holiday, so that added to the amount of people.) While we were waiting in a side street for PHarry (Pastor Harry) to exchange our money, we started to get surrounded by guys. Thankfully, Noah and Ryan picked up on it and stepped between us girls and the crowd. Then, when PHarry came with the money the crowd grew, so Shankar, Kumar and Josh stepped closer. When we walked away they realized we were being followed by 4 guys. So wherever we went, Shankar was on my left and Noah on my right, next to Rebecca. Shaina has Ryan and Sam with her. When we stopped for lunch I finally relaxed. That is, until us girls went to the bathroom next door. We forgot the TP. Shaina got the full Indian experience, while Rebecca and I only did number one. ;)
We had a chocolate cake for dessert, as it was Shaina's 18th birthday!! Afterwards, we went to a department store to get the odd items we had forgotten. The security was wicked strict. They ziptied our backpack zippers, and our plastic bags after we purchased goods.
As we were approaching the school compound, I sighed in relief; this country girl was glad to be out of the city.

PS: I really don't have that many pictures of shopping in town, as I was concerned about not attracting more attention. Sorry!

We have arrived!! | Day 4
Wow. After traveling for 36 hours, it's nice to be in India. We're staying in the guest rooms at the Ibramhimpatnum School, which is a 4 hour bus ride from Hyderabad. Google it. ;)
While we had free wifi in Boston, we had no accent to it from then on... Until now. There's wifi in the building were staying in, very slow, but we're not complaining.
Our first flight was great. Not too long and everyone still had energy. I Watched a few movies, listened to music and tried to sleep. Unfortunately, sleeping on long plane flights isn't my thing.
We arrived in London at around 7am (their time.) It was only a two hour layover, so with going through security and all, we didn't have too much time to look around.
This next flight took forever! Actually, we had a nice tailwind, so get arrived an hour or so, earlier. Thankfully, the plane had better movies, so some of us chilled and watched movies the whole time; I did. The others were blessed with the ability to sleep on a plane.
Our arrival in Mumbai was, well, interesting. It wasn't that well kept (as far as clean) and in our case, pure chaos. No one knew where we were supposed to go, so we were sent from one end of the terminal to the other. When we finally got ourselves and all our luggage to the bus, we found that there were, in fact, quite nicer buildings to this airport. We were delivered to a quite nicer terminal, which was basically empty. So, while we waited for our flight, the guys took the opportunity to play football. :) We then checked our bags and grabbed some breakfast, as we had arrived at midnight (local time) and our flight was at 6am.
This airplane was quite smaller then the other two. It was only an hour flight from Mumbai to Hyderabad. Thankfully, I was able to sleep the entire time. After 30+ hours of constant rush, my body decided I could sleep anywhere I wanted to.
We were pleasantly surprised at the Hyderabad airport. It was modern and quite beautiful. (But no wifi.) We had to wait a while for the pastors to arrive, so we got to walk around a little. I wish I could upload some pictures better then just iPod quality, but that's all have right now.... Though I might connect my camera to someone's laptop and upload some better pics.
We fit 14 people in the van, still plenty of room. We had a 40 minute ride to where we met the bus. We did do a small detour to a sort of Bollywood, where we were kinda treated as celebrities. People wanted to take pictures with us, but once a small crowd started to gather, we (Shaina, Shankar, Kumar and myself) moved away... The same thing with the students here at the school. They can't get enough of our cameras. Everyone wants their picture taken, then they love seeing the result on the screen.
Anyhow, we're settled in at the guest rooms. Rebecca, Shaina and I are sharing a room, with Paula and James Davidson right next door. Down past the bathrooms, is the boys' room and the Sabnani's. There's a central garden in the building, which I believe is the conference office, of sorts. Us kids have spent time up on the roof, where there's a breeze and a beautiful view. We have two bathrooms and two showers, so we're gonna work out a schedule for shower rotations.
Yes, I know it's 2:30am here, but I went to bed early, so when we girls all awoke at 1:15 I wasn't tired. (There's a 10 1/2 hour time difference.)
Please pray for Pastor Harry, who is in bed with the Flu. We are all keeping our distance and making sure to always use the hand sanitizer.
Thank you all for the many prayers; I'll try to update every few days.
We love and miss everyone!!

MacDonald Family Update | 11.19.12
Dear Friends,
A quick update on the MacDonald family- I wish I could respond to each of you individually, but have been overwhelmed with phone calls and emails… all GOOD! I’ve been on the phone for 6 hours straight and they’re still coming in, praise God!!
The MacDonalds have housing in town available to them, and will move into it tonight. A friend has offered an apartment where the entire family can be together, and it’s only two blocks away from the house they will be renovating. They plan to demo the burned home themselves, and then concentrate on renovating the other house. If anyone has LABOR SKILLS to donate please contact us. They specifically need a mason to put a new chimney in, and then there will be electrical wiring and general capentry work. They are needing a dumpster immediately as they are sorting through the rubble.
The immediate need now is BEDS. They have an assortment of air mattresses, but specifically need three more twin size. If anyone has a bed (s) to donate, we will start replacing the air mattresses with actual beds. BUREAUS would be real helpful, too. Also, LINENS (all twin size, and only one queen size) and BLANKETS. They have enough towels and pillows, so do not need those items. They’re not sure if the kitchen area survived, and will let me know soon if they have access to their pots and pans.
I know we are out of the way, but if folks would like to donate FOOD ITEMS (or anything else), we will collect all at our home and distribute it to the family. READY MADE MEALSwould also be a HUGE help. I have an extra fridge and freezer and will bring meals as they can receive them.
If you would like to have your church organize premade meals, it would be a blessing to provide the family with meals over the next few weeks. I can receive meals in waves if organized ahead of time, heat them and bring them to the family as they are ready for them.
They may also use our home as a place to eat, decompress before going back to work.
We will plan to be at the Keene SDA Interfaith Service on Tuesday at 7PM held at the the SDA church in Swanzey, NH and will bring our trailer to load any donations (beds, furniture, clothing, food, etc.).
I requested our local Bank of America set up a fund for them. Checks can be made out to “MacDonald Family Fund” and mailed to Bank of America, 85 East Main Street, Orange, MA 01364.
If you choose to deposit directly, the Account # is 004637894478, and the Rounting # 011000138.
Please PRAY for them- the reality is hitting and they are feeling the strain, yet pushing forward as there is so much to do. Poor Hannah (youngest child) said last night as we stood in front of the burned home, “I want to go home, but there is no home to go to.” Just heartbreaking. On the brighter side, they recovered two guitars, one tuba and one flute which they use in their ministry. Donations of MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS would be wonderful! One of their freezers was accessable and we carried the partially frozen foods to their other house. The Red Cross donated funds and they were able to purchase under garments, deoderant, toothbrushes. I’m waiting to hear if they could recover their washer/drier and will update as soon as I know.
The CLOTHING NEEDS are listed below. Laurie asked me if I could request black dress pants, as well as black suit coats for their concert performances! Can you believe that with this loss, she was thinking of their upcoming commitments to sing for God!?
Laurie also asked for ORGANIZATIONAL HELP- with coordinating foods, clothing, donated labor, donated items, etc. She is just overwhelmed. She also has her elderly father (who lives with them and has dementia) and is caring for him in all of this chaos. Please, please pray for her. She is trying to hold it together, and go forward but she is under tremendous stress. She, and the rest of the family, has thanked us and all of you again and again for showing God’s love and compassion by being there for them at this time.
Thank you all and GOD BLESS YOU for your generous spirits!
Warmly,

MacDonald Family House Fire | 11.18.12
Dear Friends,
Our friends, the MacDonald Family have suffered a tremendous loss… their home was lost to a fire which happened around 3AM today. PRAISE GOD, everyone escaped safely, but only with the pajamas on their backs… literally. Many of you know them as the Christian singing family who have visited just about every church for miles around here as well as nursing homes, retirement homes, etc. They love to share the Good News in song, and have given away hundreds of their cds, as well as their time and talents.
Their home was uninsured, and they tremendously need our help. We are grateful for any contribution you can share to help this precious family. They purchased a foreclosed house recently just two doors up from the home they lost today but it is in need of major renovation… a new chimney, electrical wiring and furnace, to name a few. Ron and I spent time with the family this afternoon and have amassed a quick list of clothing needs, and hope to open an account at our local bank tomorrow for donations to help with renovations so they can have a place to call home again.
Please contact us if you can help in any way. Once the family has time to regroup and plan, we hope to facilitate meeting their needs by donations of monetary and tangible items, and perhaps volunteers who can donate labor. As we grabbed our coats and shoes to run out the door and help with recovery, my eyes welled up with tears as I recognized my blessings in the shape of coat and shoes… necessities this family no longer has.
Thank you for your help… PLEASE consider forwarding this to your email list… we have MUCH to be thankful for!
Blessings,
Ron & Terry Mott
